PopOff — study together, make friends online, and meet new people

PopOff is a free study app built around a shared 50/10 Pomodoro clock. Join an online study room, put your head down with other students, and look up together when the break lands — the breaks are where you make friends online and meet new people, not just strangers on the internet. Cameras are optional; the timer is the same for everyone in the room.

How a session works

Pick a room and you join whatever the room is already doing: fifty minutes of focus, then ten minutes off, counted by one clock the server owns, so nobody's timer drifts out of step. During focus the room stays quiet. When the break arrives the cameras and the chat wake up, there are quick games to play, and the people you sat with are the people you talk to. Then the next block starts and everyone puts their head back down.

Is PopOff free?

Yes. Every study room, community and game is free, and there is no subscription. Points are earned by studying, never bought.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

No. Cameras are optional in the Global Rooms, and a room's host decides the rule in their own room. Plenty of people study with their camera off and simply sit with the clock.

What are points for?

Showing up earns points — twenty-five an hour of focus, fifteen for winning a game on a break, up to three hundred a day. They pay for your own private room, for starting a community, for hosting an event, and for cosmetics. Nothing in PopOff can be bought with money, so a busy week of studying counts for more than a wallet.
